Update V18 - Haunting
2024-06-25
This version contains a few technical changes, a few gameplay changes and the first version of Haunting. An exhaustive list of changes can be found on Github.

- Hell: Changed; Souls can no longer be used to kill soulless players (affects wager/soul kills).

Update V17 - Formalization (S11)

With this version we created alternative descriptions of each role that are completely formalized and resolved various issues we encountered a long the way. The update contains more than 1500 changes to a total of almost 375 elements, a full diff can be found on Github.

Notable Changes

- Wraith: Buff; May now turn a player sleepless every night
- Plague Doctor: Win Condition Change; Now requires the plague to be eliminated rather than plague team
- Pyromancer: Removed the ability to unpowder players
- Fortune Apprentice: Only a single Fortune Apprentice promotes at a time now
- Herald: Is now informed when the last player who had the role at the time of selection dies.
- Direwolf: Now executes the kill itself directly, rather than using a wolfpack poll.
- Tanner: Now learns its info on whether a tanned player is in the pack at the start of night.
- Stalker: Fix; Ability is now an immediate day ability
- Cupid: Simplified; Now always copies its lover's alignment
- Hags: All the hags, except for Hag, are now coven-aligned. Hag is nonaligned.
- Plague Team: Merged 'Contagious' and 'Contaminated' into a single term
- Bakers: Buff; No more ability duplicating - a single extra kill is granted to wolves when they first kill a Baker
- Horsemen: Buff; Unaligned players do not have to be doomed to start the apocalypse
- Apocalyptic Horseman: Nerf; Cannot kill if they transformed in the current night and had already doomed
- Ravenkeeper: Clarifications on what is counted as an action
- Cult Leader/Greater Coyote: Their group's attacks are not alwaye executed by them
- Wolf Cub/Child/Cult Acolyte: Nerf; Death abilities no longer persist past role change
- Baroness: Can no longer target Medium, but can target Coroner now
- Nonaligned: Split the term 'Unaligned' into 'Unaligned' (a role category) and 'nonaligned' (the state of not being part of an alignment)
- Unique Roles: Defined some roles as Unique Roles
- Reclassifications: Hag (UAM -> UAA), Innkeeper (TP -> TI), Baroness (WI -> WP)
- Ability Descriptions: The technical descriptions of all ability types have been revamped and extended, or for previously undefined ability types created.
- Formalization: All roles, groups, polls and teams have been formalized.
- Definitions: Various new definitions for game components such as "roles", "alignment" and many more have been created.
- Category Changes: The recruitment category has been removed, and 'R' roles have been reclassified to 'K' or 'P'
- Category Changes: New role categories have been added (EP, EG, EK) and some roles have been reclassified into these categories.
- Removed Roles: Imp, Cerberus, Rogue Wolf, Trickster Wolf, Loyal Cupid, Spectral Cupid, Spirit
- Unlimited Roles: Horsemen Team (6 Roles)

This version contains a fairly large amount of changes that were discussed throughout season 9, as well as a ton of rule book cleanup (many new additions of general rules, and removal of roles that dont get used). The first release of the new role book, used for S3G1. Also the first role book to split descriptions into Basics and Details.

- Aura Teller: Now checks for "threats", which are killing roles, wolfpack members as well as warlock and tanner
- Huntress: Now formally selects a target, which will be killed when they die
- Mad Scientist: May choose to not kill, if one subject is already dead
- Devil: Can now chose what role the wager check will show them as

- Devil: Now starts with a single soul
